Gaisce / The President’s Award

Gaisce – Is clár féinfhorbartha é Gradam an Uachtaráin do dhaoine óga. Is dúshlán díreach é ó Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D. Ó hUiginn, do gach duine a lánacmhainneacht a bhaint amach. Is é misean Ghaisce ná clár forbartha óige dearfach a sholáthar a spreagann agus a thugann luach saothair do dhaoine óga a gcuid paisin a fháil amach agus dúshlán a chur orthu féin, rud a théann i bhfeidhm go dearfach orthu féin agus ar an domhan mórthimpeall orthu. Gnóthaíonn scoláirí Idirbhliana Ghaelcholáiste Phort Láirge gradam Gaisce trí réimsí dúshláin a chomhlánú: Scil Phearsanta, Caitheamh Aimsire Fisiciúil, Rannpháirtíocht Pobail, agus Turas Eachtraíochta. Feidhmíonn múinteoirí sa scoil mar Cheannairí Ghradam an Uachtaráin. Treoraíonn agus tacaíonn múinteoirí le scoláirí a thugann faoin nGradam.

Gaisce – The President’s Award is a self-development programme for young people. It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, to all young people to realise their potential. Gaisce’s mission is to provide a positive youth development programme that encourages and rewards young people to discover their passions and challenge themselves, positively impacting themselves and the world around them. Transition year students in Gaelcholáiste Phort Láirge achieve a Gaisce Award by completing four challenge areas: Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, Community Involvement, and an Adventure Journey. Teachers act as President’s Award Leaders to guide and support students undertaking the Award.
